    Hi
When you delete a widget from any area, (Home page, footer, etc), it gets deleted from the specific area you are deleting it from, but not from the list of Widgets available to you.
There are 2 different ways to access Widgets from your WordPress account. Either through:
    My Sites – Themes- Customize,
and click on the Widgets tab where you can add or remove widgets while previewing your changes live.
Or, to see all Widgets available to at your disposal:
My Sites – Settings – WP Admin – Appearance – Widgets
Once there, you will see all the Widgets available. Once you click on a Widget, a drop down menu lets you select the area you want that widget to appear into.

    Have fun:-)

The first of the 2 options is what I did to delete the areas that I want back. Now that they are deleted, they are not available in the list.

The second option you suggest may work, but I do not have “WP Admin” and therefore cannot access “Appearance” or “Widgets.”

How do I get “WP Admin” under my settings?

    Hello,
In the first option, (Themes-Customize-Widgets), you would need to press the ‘+Add a widget’ option that appears there and you will get a list of the widgets available.
Alternatively, for the 2nd option, once you press
    My sites-Settings
you will find WP-Admin at the bottom of your list in the menu.

I do not have WP Admin as an option under settings.

I am not trying to add widgets, but instead am trying to add the 3 “front page widget areas” displayed side by side in columns that I deleted previously. I would like the areas back, then I can go into each and add a widget.

    Please help.

I figured out how to reach WP Admin. It was not through settings. I had to type /WP-admin after my site address.

I found the front page widget areas that I had deleted, but it doesn’t say anything about how to add them back.

I added widgets from the list into those widget areas and clicked “save” on each, but they are not showing in the editor still.

    Help!

    Hi there,
Typing wp-admin after your site’s address is surely one of the ways of finding the WP-Admin. Happy you found it.

I found the front page widget areas that I had deleted, but it doesn’t say anything about how to add them back.

Did you access you Home page through My sites – Themes – Customize – Widgets? If you did, then there is an ‘Add Widgets’ option.

I added widgets from the list into those widget areas and clicked “save” on each, but they are not showing in the editor still.

Did you choose where you would like these widgets to be displayed, (ie. Front page, footer, etc)?
You may also need to refresh your browser, clear cache, or try accessing your site from a different browser to see if they display there.

You will also find the Widgets documentation useful as they include screenshots as well.
Let us know how you get on.
