Adding banner beneath Featured Image

    On the Edin theme I have text over my featured image but I would like to add a box/banner with an additional front page text below it before my featured front page articles appear. Would that be possible via CSS additions/HTML editing and if so, HOW??? I cannot for the life of me figure it out.

    it is to feature events, sales and information about a social enterprise of a nonprofit org – a fashion resale boutique so I’d like the layout to look similar to the Maisha theme with a big featured image with a blurb about the organization over it and below information about how to contribute in an attractive banner with other front page text. Hope that makes sense. (p.s. I would just buy the Maisha theme but I volunteered to revamp this nonprofits webpage and they can’t afford to spend money on this project… so if I could just tweak an existing free theme that would be ideal)
