Adding Blog Posts to Pique's Static Front Page

Aloha, Using the Pique theme I’d like to boost engagement on the static front page. Is there a way to display a rotating selection ( most recent from each of 4 blog categories ) in a single box in the center of the page ( where the “Front Page Content” is in the example )? I tried using the 1st panel to display blog posts, as recommended in the tutorial, but do not care for the result.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

No, not on the Pique theme. The closest thing to what you describe that I’m aware of would be the “post slider” feature, which is available on many WordPress.com themes. See the following lists:

On some of these themes, even free ones such as Sketch, you may include other content types in the slider as well as posts (i.e. static page, portfolio projects).

Thanks for your response. I’ll check ’em out!

I also wonder how to put a grid style calendar, one a set schedule (preferably with a pop-up on roll-over state) and one for events ( ideally, easily editable ) on a couple of pages.

I’m pretty fully into the pique theme now & will probably go ahead and develop that version plus one from the post slider themes you suggest and let the station decide between ’em. ( or whatever’s clever )

    Mahalo,

    Cecily,

    You’re welcome. : -)

The Google Calendar may be inserted into a page. For listing events to come, you might want to use the Upcoming Events widget or shortcode. See the Upcoming Events support page for more information and instructions. The shortcode may be inserted into a page.
