Adding blogstats and feedstats
-
The blogstats page and the feedstats pages are both nice, but I would a like feel of how much traffic in total. If most people are like me, when they read the feed, they usually don’t view the source page as well. So to a first approximation “total reads” is blog views plus feed reads, and it would be nice to see this automatically rather than doing it by hand. Possibly the system could even know when someone has clicked through from a feed, and not count this twice, and so give a real “total reads”. Can this be done ?

Best bet would be to ask staff directly via feedback. While this is a simple enough question to pose, you’re getting into Policy concerns here since you’re asking for data that’s being compiled by Automattic to be released to a third party, in this case you, and that’s pretty much a nono when you read Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
Something that I’ve bounced off my own attorney a few weeks ago is that none of us here have our own privacy Statements on our blogs stating that we are compiling stats and numbers. wp.com has one but really none of us link to it.
Staff has stated in the past that there wasn’t any real plans to expand on the stats on those pages as well. Basically boiled down to ‘We’re here to blog, not watch numbers’ if I remember correctly. You are of course free to weigh in your own opinion via feedback
If stats are that important, you could always grab a copy of the software from http://wordpress.org find yourself a host, and run your own stats.
Hope this helps,
