adding content shows on different page – posts don’t show – adding menu tabs

When I add new information to the home page, then view the page, the information is there. But when I check it online on different computers and about 6 different browsers, it is not there. http://pjki.wordpress.com However, if I click on ABOUT, then that is where the new information resides? http://pjki.wordpress.com/about

    Q. How do I add the information to my HOME page. The same information that is on the About page is on the home page, but the new info added is only on the About page??? That’s confusing.

    Q. I have had 3 people post on my blog, and I responded to one, but only mine and one post shows on the About page: http://pjki.wordpress.com/2009/08/07/hello-world/ Where do the comments go?

    Q. How do I add a new menu tab for a new page? I created a new page, with no content yet, and published it, but where is a tab for it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You add information to your home page by creating “posts.” The about page is a static page. See this for the differences between pages and posts: http://support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ .

Go to the “comments” tab in your dashboard and look. Are the comments awaiting moderation? Does it say there are spam comments waiting? If so, check the “akismet” spam filter and if the comments are there, approve them.

    Forgot the last question.

The tabs at the top represent pages. When you create and publish new pages, they will appear in the tabs.

You might want to take a look at this support document and watch the little video on that page which will help you understand blogs better: http://support.wordpress.com/getting-started/ .

Thank you so much “theSacredPath” :D I appreciate your answers! and help.

I discovered when I published my new page, it automatically made a tab for me.

I added “page” not “post. So I will definitely check out the links you gave me.

Thank you again for responding so quickly!

    You’re welcome.

For normal content that you will be adding to your blog over time, I would suggest sticking with posts. Pages sit outside the blog structure and as such do not dynamically update. Here are some drawbacks to using pages for normal continuing content:

    1. Pages will show up lower in search engine results because search engines place lower emphasis on pages. Pages are meant for static content.

    2. When you publish a post, wordpress automatically “pings” all the major search engines to let them know you have published a new post so that they can index it. When you publish a page, wordpress does not “ping” the search engines. You will have to ping manually at a service such as pingomatic.com.

    3. Only posts show up on an RSS feed, pages do not.

    4. You can assign categories and tags to posts to help the search engines properly place you in search results. Pages cannot have tags or categories as they sit outside the blog structure.

Thank you for the extra info.

On the “comments” — here is what it shows. I’ve approved all of them, but only one shows up (well, actually one and my response).

    At a Glance
    2 Posts 3 Comments
    2 Pages 3 Approved
    1 Category 0 Pending
    0 Tags 0 Spam

Here is “one” on this page:
    http://pjki.wordpress.com/2009/08/07/hello-world/

If I look under comments in the admin, I see two more.

Does it depend on where other people post comments on my blog? as to where they show up?

Except I can’t find them anywhere except in the admin.

And I see on the RSS: feed://pjki.wordpress.com/comments/feed/

So I guess they don’t just show up unless someone goes to the specific links?

But I’m wondering why there is one under Hello World, and then two others on the rss feed?

I see three comments on your blog:

1 on hello world and 2 on your about page (yours and a visitor’s)
