Adding Content to Columns

I selected a theme with 3 columns but I can’t figure out how to add content to the additional columns. (i.e the content is all in one big column)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The content goes in one column unless you’re using a specialized theme like DePo Masthead or a couple of the new ones. The other columns are for sidebar widgets.
Look through the themes for ones that display content in more than one column; there are fewer than ten out of the hundred we have here.

The theme that I’m using is for three columns- but in the edit post section it’s putting everything into one column- shouldn’t thee be a separate editing section for column content?

No, as mentioned above the extra two columns are for widgets. You can add them to specific areas under Appearance > Widgets from you dashboard. There are only a few themes which allow you to display your posts in more than two columns. DePo Masthead, Under the Influence and Inuit Types all spring to mind.

I activated the DePo Masthead theme, but other than entering column tags in html (which I don’t remember how to do) I cannot see where I’d put content to go in other columns.
