Adding Custom Content to Sidebar

  Hi,

  I wanted to add a widget to my sidebar, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to access the code and make the change.

  Here’s the widget: http://www.wizardworld.com/ (look under the Subscribe to Wizard or ToyFare ad).

  Am I missing something painfully obvious (wouldn’t surprise me) or is this not a feature I can access on the free site?

  I’m so sorry to say that that code is Flash and therefore can’t be embedded here at WordPress.com for security reasons.

  You can add widgets from Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard.

  Okay, so I can’t use that file, but is there a way I can access that area to add content not in a pre-designed widget that is either an image or text?

  Or do I have to purchase the upgrade?

  Sure, you can use the Text Widget to add text or HTML, or the Image Widget to add an image.
