Adding Custom Theme
-
I am trying to add a custom theme to my WordPress.com blog. I bought the upgrade package to use a custom domain and custom theme – but then I read that custom themes are only available for WordPress.org users. Does this mean I cannot use a theme I downloaded from ThemeForest on my WordPress.com blog w/ custom domain? If so, how do I go about putting this theme up?
Thanks,
JustinThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Justin,
Themes can’t be uploaded to blogs hosted on WordPress.com, so you wouldn’t be able to use that theme. They can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:
On WordPress.com, you can select from a variety of themes to change your blog’s appearance. You can read more about customizing the appearance and theme of your blog on WordPress.com here:

We offer over 210 themes, both free themes and premium themes created by leading theme companies. You can view all of our themes and filter them by specific criteria here:
Please see if you can get a refund from ThemeForest, or you might want to look towards moving to self-hosted WordPress.org:

How can I go about requesting a refund? I only paid for the “premium account” because I thought I could use a custom theme. I have no use for premium WordPress theme if I can’t do that. Where can I talk to somebody about this?

Hi there,
Please note that the WordPress.com Premium upgrade does not mention or include any custom themes. Please review the support guide about the upgrade. It includes: a custom domain name + mapping, VideoPress, Custom Design, and an extra 10GB of space.
I’d be more than happy to provide you a refund if you like. Please reply to confirm and I will remove that and the Domain Mapping you added. If you would like to keep the Domain Mapping, I can provide you a partial refund of $86 so that you can keep the Domain Mapping ($13).
However, if you would like to self-hosted, WordPress.org to use your theme, this guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if its right for you:
