adding default text to a post

Is there a way to prefill a post with text or content (like a template). This is on a free wordpress.com site so we dont have access to CSS. (We are a Scout group and don’t have funds for a paid site sadly). We are using wordpress.com for other Scout groups to post Zoom ideas for their Scout programs but I wanted to prefill the new post with a sort of guideline template so the information presented has some structure. Can it be done or do I need to go paid, or wordpress.org hosted to get that flexibility?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I’m not sure what you’re asking here. You want to put a block of random text in your articles?

Can you give me an example? If there’s a site that’s doing that let me know its address so I can have a look.

I want to fill a new post with some prefilled words. I’m using posts so other contributors can contribute ideas for running Scouts on Zoom.

So these pre-filled words work like a template to new users to assist them in structuring there post or program. The template might read:

    Program name:
    Program description:
    Preparation time: x minutes
    Running time: x minutes

I dont know any other site that uses it. I am pretty sure I could do it if it was a wordpress.org, but wanted to know if it can be done on a free WordPress.com site.

  • Oh, I think I know what you mean, you’d like to see the info when whoever on your site creates a new post, is that right?
I’m afraid you won’t be able to do that without plugins or custom code. You can, however, create a Reusable Block:

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/reusable-block/

If I’m not wrong, it’s created for the site so, anyone that can edit it, will be able to add that block to their post to get started.
