Adding different fields for profiels

Hi
Is there anyway to change the fields that users of your blog can enter as part of their profile information?
Right now you can enter information like: contact info and biographical info but I’d like to add the options to enter other information for profiles of people blogging.

No you can’t do that. But you needn’t bother, because that info doesn’t show up anywhere (“Website” box excepted: if you add your blog URL there, it will make your nick link to your blog). For info that visitors of your blog can actually see, write whatever you like in your “About” page.
And please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here; we usually need that to give a relevant answer.

Hi, thanks for the help. However, even when users enter information under the “About yourself” section it only says “Share a little biographical information to fill out your profile. This may be shown publicly.” What does it mean, “may be shown publicly” – where do you select this, cause I DO want it to be shown publicly, but there’s no option to do this and where would the information show up? How do people access other authors’ profile information?

These are still theoretical questions more than anythinig though, trying to design the blog site after understanding these questions. In regards to above blog, in the test author I added, ‘ryantest’, I filled in information under the about yourself for ‘ryantest.’ But, where does that information show up publicly? How can you set that so other people can read the about you of authors.

Which “about yourself” do you mean? When you signed up for a blog? If so, that’s not displayed anywhere. I think the “may be shown publicly” is legalese.
There’s an authors widget available for the sidebar (info in the FAQ) but you could also make a nice little text widget or an About the Authors page.

Under Profile Tab -> Your Profile there is a a space to enter under “About yourself” such as Biographical Info.
Basically, I’m looking for a section where authors could fill out basic profile information (almost like facebook’s basic information, just location, etc) that others could see about the author – is that not possible?
Otherwise, yeah, I could just add an “About the authors” page – good idea.

Now I understand. Thanks. Most of those fields are not displayed or required but might — might — someday be used in some way or another:
An advantage of using a page is that you and your authors can include pictures, links, etc and make it an interesting experience for the reader.
