Adding Different Layouts to Pages
-
I want to add selectable layouts to some pages in WordPress. If I had to give an example; I have portfolio page and in it I show all my portfolio items in a specific grid style. I want the layout of the page to change when the user clicks on a selectable area in the page settings and selects any of several different layouts.
In short, what I want to do is;
1- A custom field for the user to choose the layout
2- Show my portfolio items on portfolio page
3- Creating the style of each layout
i just know how to create custom field with ACF and how to create custom font with CPT UI. I’m new to WordPress, I’d be glad if you could help.
If I had to give an example site;

You can see that the homepage and portfolio pages have different layouts. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. Thanks already for your help -
Hey there,
Happy to help you with this and help guide you toward next steps.
I want to add selectable layouts to some pages in WordPress.
Ok, so what you’re describing here, is a template, which would dictate how the content looks and sits on the page. You can assign different templates to different pages – for example, the homepage could have a template, along with the contact page, portfolio, and then individual portfolio items.
Most WordPress themes these days use a templating system or a page builder system to show content in different ways.
This theme here: https://themeforest.net/item/rayden-creative-portfolio-theme/30172992 looks like it uses templates in a similar fashion.
It sounds like this may be the theme for you when I examine the demo, is this the kind of theme you’re looking for?
If yes, it is totally possible to use this theme on WordPress.com under a WordPress.com Business plan.
What other features for your portfolio are you looking to integrate? (for example, a contact form or a booking form?)
Looking forward to hearing more!

hello, first of all thanks for your reply.
I want to sell my product. I don’t want my customer to buy anything extra when buying the product. I do not know exactly how to do the features I want, if there is an instructive content on this subject, I would be happy if you share it with me. -
Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out.

Ok so that sounds like you’re looking to build an online store and for this you would need WooCommerce.
WooCommerce is a plugin that adds ecommerce functionality to the site, and is very popular. Thankfully, it’s also possible to use this plugin on the WordPress.com Business plan as well.
This guide here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/introduction-to-woocommerce/ explains how to get started with WooCommerce.
Also, it looks like https://themeforest.net/item/rayden-creative-portfolio-theme/30172992 is set up to use WooCommerce as well.
Is there a site out there you’re looking to emulate or aspire to?
Many thanks in advance!

I don’t want to make a sales platform myself, I want to sell on envato. I would like to add a few extra templates to the pages to give customers more options. but I don’t want customers who buy the product to spend money on things other than the product.

Hi there,
So, are you looking at creating a website here on WordPress.com and listing your products? Then instead of selling them directly through your website, add a link to your Envato store and sell them there. Have I got this right, or are you looking at doing something different?

I am a author at envato market. and want to develop and sell products. The product I’m developing will be a wordpress site. but I need to add different designs to the pages to give customers more options. As I stated on the sample site. that is, when the customer who bought the product enters a page, I want him to easily change the design of the page from the page options.

Hey there!
Thanks for clarifying. Since you’re interested in selling your WordPress templates on Envato, I’m afraid we won’t be able to assist you directly here at WordPress.com. Our support is primarily focused on websites hosted on our platform. However, don’t worry! The WordPress community is there to lend a helping hand when it comes to questions about the WordPress software.
You can visit the WordPress support forum for guidance on how to and troubleshooting. Just head over to https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting.
They’ll be more than happy to assist you with any queries you may have.
Thanks for understanding!
