Adding domain names

Reviewing my Site page realized typo in domain name ‘itintererestsme’, Followed support steps to add correct domain name, ‘itinterestsme,’ and select as primary. Said that name was not available, however, when trying to go to ‘itinterestsme.wordpress.com’ message said site was deleted. That was confusing and if was, why wan’t name available? I can’t publish until I have corrected domain name. Now what?

What happened is that another user had the itinterestsme.wordpress.com blog at some point in the past and decided to delete the site. Once a site is deleted the domain cannot be used again.

None of the information I had developed on the original, current domain remains. Updating changes do not appear “linked” throughout my site like my gravatar. However, since trying to add a domain to correct the spelling, I lost what did update: email address, draft blog, and gravatar. Haven’t checked if all the time I spent preparing my sources (adding urls) are all there. I’m not about to start publishing without fully understanding wordpress.com and available tools, as well as having my own “toolbox” set up.” But if I have to keep starting over, I may as well blog from my email and link to facebook.
