Adding Donate Via PayPal function

adding donate function
Dear Happiness Team:
A friend suggested that I add a “Tip Jar” to my blog – perhaps it’s because I haven’t upgraded to a professional site but I don’t have the Admin capabilities described here: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-paypal-donation-plugin-942 on my blog. Seems to me that this function “should be” as easy as your “add media” or standard to my template. Pray tell what am I missing? and can you help? Teresa Fritschi
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You don’t have those capabilities, because they don’t apply to WordPress.com blogs. Plugins are for WordPress.ORG blogs.
The instructions for WordPress.com blogs like yours are found in the Support documents http://support.wordpress.com/ and here is the link to add a Donate button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
Don’t get your hopes up. I had one for years and took it down when I realized it was netting me about $10 a year while making me look like a beggar.

I had a paypal donation link on a blog I administered for a well established not-for-profit, for about 3 years. We got a few paypal donations, but most came from “regular” local supporters who found it easier to use paypal online than to spend a stamp to mail a check at year’s end. Memory is poor, but it amounted to maybe $300 from people who were essentially all friends.
