Adding embedded links to paragraphs

  Hello, I’m using Maker theme and when I try and add a link within a paragraph it shows the whole link in the text rather than embedding it. I highlight the text where I want to embed the link, click the link icon, put in the URL and apply, but then the whole URL is added to the text. Is there any way to avoid this please? Thanks!
