adding facebook comments

    I would like to integrate Facebook comments as I use Facebook to promote the blogs. Folks seem much more likely to use the Facebook comments as they are a click “closer.”

    I have seen Facebook comments on other WordPress sites. I don’t think I see it in the list of standard plugs here. Tips?

    To be clear, I would like to:

    post a link on Facebook to a blog post
    as folks make comments on that Facebook post, have them appear on the blog page itself

    Frankly, I think a fair number of folks only read the headline on Facebook and then dive in with comments. I’d like to capture those on the assoc’d blog post.

    It looks like I can allow folks to auth in with their Facebook login but it doesn’t seem to provide the back channel to Facebook.

    Possible?

    I would also like to be able to integrate Facebook comments. It seems that there are plugins available, but I cannot figure out how to install them. Thanks.

    Facebook comments plugins are for Facebook sites. You cannot install one here. For Facebook integration with your site see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/

    You cannot add plugins to a site hosted by wordpress.COM. You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted sites with wordpress.ORG software installs.

    Note that Staff review all requests in the Ideas Forum and will contact you if they choose to include what you have requested.
    WordPress.com blogs have built-in plugins only.

    Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

    For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

    I understood that plug-in could not be added to a site hosted on WordPress.com but the link suggested posting here if we felt a plug-in should be added to the list of available plugs. I should have been clearer.

    Would it be possible to add some additional linkage with Facebook? Not interested in the existing Facebook auth stuff but something which integrates with Facebook comments specifically as described above.

    Yes, I saw that. That’s not what I need. There was a note somewhere saying to post here if you got a request. I’ve got a request for deeper future Facebook support.

    The thing that happens is a get a decent # of Facebook comments but none on the blog entry. That makes the blog entry look like crickets even though the Facebook thread had some activity. It would be nice to, in some way, includes those comments on the blog page itself.
