Adding folders to media library

Is there any way to add folders within the Media Library to be able to organise images better?
Specifically, I have two sets of pictures that I want to add to one of my trip reports – one set deals with new construction only and I want to keep those separate. (Both sets of photos were taken on the same day, and not in any particular order, so sorting by date /time or file reference is not going to help.)
Any suggestions?

That’s a shame, but at least I know not to waste any more time searching for a way.
Subsidiary question though, what is the best way to suggest that this would be a good feature to the developers?

I’m missing something here. That link to justjennifer’s blog is all about galleries isn’t it?
I was hoping that there was a way that I could segregate my photos within the media library, to make it easier for me to separate the two sections of the post that I am writing.
To date (and I am pretty new here) I have not found a use for the gallery feature, I prefer to directly place pictures where I want them and have control over their sizing.
But thanks for all the information that you have provided, it is appreciated.

@bradpeet, I don’t know if being able to create folders in the media library would be very useful for most bloggers, but I can see instances where it would be nice to be able to organize them into a different structure than year/month folders as they are now.
Contact staff directly using the link in Timethief’s last post and make the suggestion so that they make sure and get the suggestion logged as a feature request. There is no guarantee they will see it here in the forums.
