Adding galleries in Prophoto Plugin

Hello! I have just installed Prophoto in WordPress. I am very new to both. I’m having issues trying to put a slideshow gallery on my homepage. The images are either extremely large or if I try to downsize have a white border around them. I also would like the gallery to stretch the width of my screen, but am having difficulties figuring this out as well. Any suggestions??
