Might be a much answered question but I cannot find a specific answer.

I started a “whats-on” guide to my town site on WordPress, it shows on Google if you search for the title, but how can I add a tag to the site as a posed to individual blog posts, so my site will be picked up when people search “what’s on in (town name)” ??

    Any help would be appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What you’re talking about is a part of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) You can learn more about SEO and WordPress.com here!
Fortunately from the Search engine support page:

WordPress.com takes care of indexing your site and all of the necessary SEO for you without your having to do anything at all (other than blog)!

Google and other search engines use specialized programs called “bots” to crawl the web and index everything, they then rank it.

As for how to improve your ranking?

The short answer is that the more quality content you post on a consistent basis the more likely it is that people will see it and the higher it will climb in a search engine’s results.

You’ll also want to share your site with people who will be interested in it’s contents, so since your site is about your town tell your friends, family and neighbors about it!

In general it’s a good idea to make sure your posts have keywords and phrases in them that are relevant, for example if you wanted your site to show up when people search for “concerts in (town name)” you should include that keyphrase “Concerts in (town name)” in your post.

Here are some more tips on SEO and WordPress and here are even more

    I hope that helps!
