Adding Google Analtyics to wordpress

  Hi,
  New blogger here.
  I heard that you can use google analytics on wordpress, but according to some of the articles at wordpress that can’t be done.
  I tried copying the code from GA and putting it in the css right before the body tag, but it’s not working. Is there a way to get this going and where exactly does the code need to be inserted? I was watching a youtube video on how to install and the teacher was going into wordpress and adding the code by going to themes>presentation> and clicking on footer? I don’t have the presentation button in my blog design area. Is there something wrong or do I need to update?

  Also, I believe the video may have been aboutthe selfhosted version, have a read here to se the difference: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

  In addition, here at wordpress.com, we cannot use Google Analytics. More about that here: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/08/03/can-i-use-google-analytics/

  You may want to link your blog to your user name as explained here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-make-your-name-link-to-your-blog?replies=54

  Also – as carocat said, we cannot use Google Analytics here.
