Adding Google Analytics
-
I want to add google analytics to my site, to keep track of the traffic. When googling for where I need to add the code, the pages and forums keep referring to the “Editor” in the “Appearance” menu. Well, I have the dutch version, but no single option in my “Appearance” menu has anything that allows me to add html code. Actually, nothing in the entire menu allows me to do so. It does, however, let me add css. The code doesn’t work there however. Do I need to upgrade my account or am I searching in the wrong place or do I need to “translate” the code to css or something?
I’m completely new to html and css btw, I have no idea what I’m talking about here, I’m just describing what’s going on.So, the question; how dó I add Google Analytics to my site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. If you are referring to a WordPress.COM blog, the answer is: you can’t install Google Analytics here. There is no upgrade that allows you to install it:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#additional-infoThere are many tools that, in despite of the code restrictions here at WordPress.COM, can provide you with more information about your visitors. Some of them include Clicky, SiteMeter and StatCounter.
And by the way, CSS and HTML are two completely different things. CSS is just a stylesheet that indicates how your browser should display your blog. It cannot be used to add new functionality to your blog.

OK, so you can’t add GA to wordpress.COM site. Got it! How do you add GA to a wordpress blog on my own site?

Every wordpress.com blog has built-in stats. Those stats are the very same ones that wordpress.org blogger use when they upload the plugin into their self hosted installs. See here please > http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/
In addition there are free non-Javascript thrid party stats programs we can use on wordpress.com blogs.
