Adding Header picture in Publication

    I just added the Publication theme – I have not been able to add any kind of color or picture in my header area on my homepage. My tagline is not showing up and I can’t find anyway to change the colors in the sidebar. Help!

    The Publication theme doesn’t have a header image option. However, if the homepage is set to display a static page (as yours is), then you may add a featured image to the page. Featured images display full-screen on static pages on Publication, just as they do on the blog page and on single posts.

    Some themes don’t display the tagline, and Publication is one of them.

    “I can’t find [any way] to change the colors in the sidebar.”
    On a test site with Publication applied, I was also unable to change the colors in the sidebar widget area. However, unlike the purple background in your sidebar widget area, slide-out menu, and footer area, the background in these areas are stuck on dark gray on my site. Choosing any of the palette options at Colors & Backgrounds has no effect that I’ve been able to detect on the background colors displayed on the public site, though the new color flickers momentarily around the top border when the site is loading after a change from one palette to another.

    I’ll call for staff attention regarding the latter issue. Staff will respond here.

    Hi there,

    Are you speaking of https://ronnierambleson.wordpress.com/, rather than http://ronnierambleson.com/? The latter is not a WordPress.com site, and also isn’t loading for me.

    The sidebar on https://ronnierambleson.wordpress.com/ currently shows a purple background for the widget area, which indicate you have the fifth free color palette enabled on that site. Are you trying to change that color to something else?

    There are only six free color palettes for this theme, and three of those use the same dark grey background for the widget area. If you want to change it to any color other than the ones that will require the custom design features in our Premium Plan.


    @musicdoc1    , what’s your test site’s URL? I’m able to change the colors without problem on the OP’s site, the theme demo site, and my own test site.

    The widget area’s color is not affected by setting a custom background color, only by changing the entire color palette.

    @kokkieh,

    Sorry, my mistake. I got confused and had been choosing from the color suggestions in the “Manual” options at Colors & Backgrounds. The palette options are working as expected. : -)
