adding heading to pgeswithout using HTML editor help?

I’m blind and the HTML edior for wrting pages is not accessible for us, so I use visual one and the command for adding in a heading is ‘alt shif 1’, but when I check the page ater saving, the headings aren’t shoing up. Do I use that command type what the heading is and then the heading command again or what am I doing wrong? I wish it just took my hml code and automatically converted it as that would be easier. This is on free web not the pid one. Help please.

  • Hi kithri2,

When you’re in the visual editor and use the alt + shift + 1 command, you’ll want to type your heading text and then hit the enter key. Your heading text should then stay a heading, and your new line will be your standard text size again.

If you have a specific page that you’d like me to take a look at, I’d be happy to do so!

I think I figured out the heading thing, but since it’s visual try my site at sourcepages.wordpress.com and go to link labeled browser games and take a look. I’m still having trouble getting some of my links to be actual links and not sure why as I triple checked all links direct from the websites…any advice there? I’d like to ask how to add an image as well as I’d like at least one featured on each page, I think I can do that. First, let me know what you think. I went with the free version as I don’t know much on how to work the parst for coding in security and stuff for the paid version, all I know is html code and basic css.

  • Hello,

I took a look at the link labeled Browser Games. I can see the headings on that page, so looks like they are working!

When I look at the links, it looks like some of the links are adding an extra space after the URL in the link, so when a user clicks, the links don’t work. If you can describe how you are adding the links right now, I would be happy to help you trouble-shoot why that extra space is being added.

There’s also a guide on adding links using the Visual Editor here that might help: https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

There are a few different ways to add images to your posts using the Visual Editor. This guide has how-to instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/

I hope this helps! Please let me know if I can help more with trouble-shooting the link issue.
