Adding Hosted WordPress Domain to Blogger account

I wanted to direct blogger readers to hosted WordPress domain but it was not recognised. Below is copied message that appeared on my screen. Further reading said I needed to find my domain DNS???

    Blog Address
callieandchef.blogspot.com will redirect to your domain.

Blogs may not be hosted at naked domains (ex: yourdomain.com). Please add a top-level domain (www.yourdomain.com) or subdomain (blog.yourdomain.com).
Your domain must be properly registered first. settings instructions

Use a missing files host? No
If you specify a missing files host, Blogger will look there if it cannot find a specified file on your regular domain. Learn more.

Please advise if this is something I can do, or if I just need to post a redirect page on my blogger site. Many thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Callie,

You could try to use http://www.callieandchef.com. On our end, that would redirect to callieandchef.com. I’m not aware if that’s within what Blogger is looking for with the domain.

If that doesn’t work, you could alternative try http://callieandchef.wordpress.com/ (which would also redirect automatically on our end to callieandchef.com).

If neither of those options work, then perhaps the redirect page on Blogger would be best.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. Cheers!

Hi! Thanks for your advice. I tried both options on blogger and got the following error message:

We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 13.

On your domain registrar’s website, locate your Domain Name System (DNS) settings and enter the following two CNAMEs:

Name, Label, or Host field Destination, Target, or Points To field
    callieandchef ghs.google.com
    oc3hv5eqvfcm gv-afmguev2xamowo.dv.googlehosted.com

See our detailed instructions on providing CNAMEs for various registrars or see the full settings instructions for more details. If you are having trouble entering the second CNAME to dv.googlehosted.com, you can verify your ownership of this domain with a TXT record through the Google webmaster tools here instead.
If your domain provider supports it, download the DNS settings file.

Can you please advise where I might find the DNS settings on WordPress as domain was not purchased through GoDaddy.com? Thanks so much…

  • Hi Callie,

Since your nameservers are set to WordPress.com’s, you can edit this via your site’s Dashboard, Store->Domains->Edit DNS. A direct link is at https://callieandchef.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains&action=dnsedit&domain=callieandchef.com

On that page, you can add

    CNAME callieandchief ghs.google.com
    CNAME oc3hv5eqvfcm	gv-afmguev2xamowo.dv.googlehosted.com

    Cheers!
