Adding html code to a post

    Hi — I am trying to add html code for a widget to blog post, but the widget is not displaying properly. I am adding the code to the post in ‘text’ mode, but still cannot get it to display properly. Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    I’m not sure what you mean by adding html code for a widget to blog post.

    Do you mean you are trying to add widget to a blog post using html code?

    If yes, that’s not possible. Widgets can only be added in the areas designed for them like sidebars and footers.

    Hi — Thanks for the response! Yes, that’s exactly what I meant. Quick follow-up: Is it because I’m using the free WordPress blog template that I’m not able to add widgets to blog posts directly using html? I ask that, because I’ve seen other WordPress blogs with widgets in actual blog posts and not only in the sidebar or footer.

    Actually it’s not about free vs paid. But more about where you are hosting the site.

    It is not possible on a site here on WordPress.COM because they’ve put restrictions on such modifications for security issues.

    However you can self host your site on other web host by taking the software from WordPress.ORG

    If you have seen that on other WordPress blogs, those blogs are most likely not hosted here on WordPress.COM but they’re hosted some place else using the software from WordPress.ORG..
