Adding html code to my text widget

I need to put a contact e-mail in my Text widget. How do i do this?

Hi there. Why don’t you simply use the contact info widget instead? http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/contact-info/
If you want to use the text widget, copy this code into your widget and substitute your own email address to create an active email link. You can also substitute the “Email us” portion to control what will actually display on the screen:
<a href="mailto:(email visible only to moderators and staff)">Email us</a>If you just want the actual email address to appear, you can simply type it into the text widget and save it.

Sorry had to dash off – couldn’t make the code work in the widget, but used it within the main text of the post, this time. Will come back to you another time to see how I can put this in the Text Widget. Thanks.
