Adding HTML conditional comments
-
Hi all, and thanks for your answers.
I do not know about IE6 specifically, but I do know for a fact that readers can access my website in IE7 and IE8, although not properly displayed because IE7 and IE8 do not have support for some CSS functionalities I implemented (cf my other forum topic about keyframe and background images). (btw, this issue might be better addressed on this other forum topic https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/keyframe-animations-and-background-images-workaround-for-ie)
Yet my question here about HTML comments remains unanswered, so if anyone has information on that matter I’ll be very happy to hear from you :)
Thanks again.

Hi Judit – there is no way to add conditional comments for IE, as that would necessitate altering your theme’s actual HTML files. The Custom Design upgrade only lets you edit the CSS, not the HTML. Does that clear things up?

Hi eurello!
thanks for participating here ^^
I did know the custom CSS lets you edit the CSS only ^^
One can edit the HTML from the WP text Editor (no CSS into play for that), but comments somehow are stripped out when publishing the page/post.
Just wondering how to add IE display (CSS) exceptions in my pages through conditional comments or another equivalent workaround ^^ -
Hi Judit – As far as I know, there is no way to do this on WordPress.com. You can ask in the CSS forum, however. There might be some sort of workaround that I am not aware of.

Hi Eurello,
Thanks for your tip. I hope I’ll find a solution in this other forum ^^
So there is no way of adding HTML comments (conditional or not) to my pages? – snif
