Adding HTML RSS Feed
-
I know you cannot customize category pages.
However, is it possible to perhaps add an HTML version of the RSS feed of those specific categories and add them to a customized page?
Example: I would like a page titled “Miami Dolphins,” which has a feed of all posts related to the Miami Dolphins, but also other information about the team — such as their current coaches, upcoming games, etc.

No, you cannot have autoposted materials at WordPress.com. You can put the global tag for Miami Dolphins or whatever in an RSS Widget, but not in a page or post. It would be http://wordpress.com/tag/miami-dolphins/feed

I suppose the only way something like this would be possible would be with WordPress VIP?
It just seems odd that there is no way to filter my own posts onto a customizable page.

I understand how to do that.
I was hoping to be able to add more information to those category pages.
This is an example of what I am looking to accomplish: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/teams/afc/miami-dolphins/

That isn’t possible here at wordpress.com. You could do it with a self-hosted installation (figure $10 to $25 per month all costs considered) but you would need a deep knowledge of PHP scripting and/or javascript to do it, and you had better have a very good knowledge of the security side of things so you don’t open up a hole that hackers can drive a truck through, sideways.

That is a VIP wordpress.COM site. Those are totally different and are large sites that get millions of hits per day (like NBC Sports, CNN, etc.) You can do that to. $1,500 one-time setup fee and then it starts at $3,750 per month, and you have to have at least one full-time, wordpress guru developer on your staff.

I would have thought the same basic restrictions would apply regardless of regular or VIP… after all, aren’t the restrictions supposed to be for security purposes?
I appreciate you taking the time to answer though, you’ve been very accommodating.
Thank you.

VIP customers are in their own sandbox and they pay for that freedom. They aren’t the 99% :-)
And you are welcome.

Bloody hell, that’s DOUBLE as expensive as I thought it was. Well, Anderson Cooper et al can afford it.
