Adding Hyperlinks
-
Maybe I am going crazy, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to add a hyperlink to my posts. Please help.
Thanks!

I hope this isn’t considered “hijacking” someone’s thread. If so, please let me know for future reference. I think I have the exact same question and this thread seems to be on hold. I’m new to computer terminology…I’m assuming a hyperlink is what I need. I want to link text in a post to another site (in this case the title of a book to the author’s website). Is that a hyperlink and how do I do that? My searches in the support section ultimately brought me to this thread.
I don’t know how to make my name link to my blog, so here is the link.

Yes, that is a hyperlink. In the visual post editor, select the text you want to use as the link and then click the “link” icon (linked chain links) and then put the URL (address) of the page you want to link to and then press the “insert” button.

Can you leave a hyperlink somewhere to the side of the place where the actual text is shown – sort of like where the calendar and such are?
Also, how would you upload a picture if you wanted to?
Last of all (for now), is there some sort of printable cheat sheet that tells you what all those buttons on the dashboard do?
Thanks. There are some days when the brain is too wrapped up in the chronic illnesses I have to do much thinking – other days when I wonder how I missed the obvious!

1. That’s the sidebar. You can create the links via Links > Add New, then go to Appearance>Widgets and activate the Links widget.
(Alternative: you can activate a Text widget and write links in it, but that’s more complicated.)
2. If you mean in a post, see here:
Or do you mean again in the sidebar?
3. See here:

I just wanted to say thank you for this thread! It was JUST what I was looking for for my site (not sure if it will post with my comment, but here it is: http://100daysofbones.wordpress.com/
so, if anyone ELSE reads this, it’s worth the time to go through the forums to find exactly what you need. Thanks everyone above for taking the time to work through this issue.
