Adding Icons to Menus Links
-
Hello people,
I am using Independent Publisheer Theme and I would like to add below the header of my blog a Link Menus. I have added Twitter and LinkedIn, links to which WordPress has kindly added corresponding icons.I have added 2 icons for category and I would like to add an icons to this category. Without icons, it just shows a dot which is not very user friendly.
Thanks for letting me know how to add icons to this customised links as the Customize/Navigation/Menu does not help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. That menu you added under the blog title is a special type of Custom Menu called the Social Links Menu which is only available in certain themes. While you can theoretically add any custom link to that menu, it is intended specifically for social media links.
Unfortunately it’s not possible to add custom icons to that menu. That menu is programmed to automatically add icons for the supported social media services. You can find a complete list of supported services in your theme’s support document under the Supported Social Networks header: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/independent-publisher/
I’m afraid I also don’t know of any way to add icons to a regular custom menu. It might be possible with CSS, but that’s a VERY big might. Keep in mind you can only edit CSS if you have a Premium or Business upgrade. You can ask in the CSS forum whether this is possible, but I highly doubt it: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform

Forgot to include the link to the support doc on the Social Links Menu: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/social-links-menu/
