Adding image from url
-
Hi! Whenever I try to use the ‘add from url’ option to add a photo, I get a message saying the image could not be added because it is an unsupported file type. I assume I simply cannot use the types of links I am trying to use – e.g., an image stored in google drive. They are all JPGs, so I don’t think it is actually the file type that is the problem. What urls will work? Do I need to get something like photo bucket or flickr?
Many thanks,

Hey there,
Please refer to this documentation on adding images to your Media Library via URL. To clarify a URL is not a file type it is the address for a particular page on a website. For example your websites URL is https://phdancer.wordpress.com/. If you can find a free for use image on a particular webpage that you would like to use, you can then select that image and copy the URL from your browser. Paste that URL into the appropriate area for media upload and WordPress will do the rest.
If you have the actual image file that you would like to upload to your media on your computer then you will want to upload it using the steps outlined here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/#adding%C2%A0files-from-your-computer
Hope this helps!
Cheers
