Adding Image Links

I was wondering how to add a facebook icon to my wordpress blog. I would like the icon to work as a link. I figured out how to add images to the side bar by adding text widgets, but each time I did the sidebar would only show the image I added and all my links would be gone. If any one knows a solution to this I would greatly appreciate some help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Write whatever it is in the Visual Editor including the image, switch to the HTML Editor, copy and paste the code from there into a text widget. Save your changes.

    melissaerwin,
Please provide a link to your blog when asking a question in the forums here. Often we need to be sure you are in the right place, and sometimes it’s useful to take a look. Start with:

Do as justjennifer described: Start a draft post, use the Visual Editor to write what you want including the picture. When you insert the picture, paste the code for the link into the “Link URL” line. (Usually you choose “File URL” to display a picture).
Then, if you don’t want your readers to stray away from your blog, you can make the link open in a new page by clicking on the mountain icon to edit the image: Advanced Settings > Target > Open link in new window.
Switch to HTML editor, copy all the code. Paste into your text widget. Save changes.
You can discard the draft, or just save it without publishing it, so you will have the code if something happens that you lose the text widget.

@melissaerwin: When you haven’t added any widgets yourself, each theme displays a small default set of sidebar items – in Tarski’s case, links only. Once you add any widget, the default is cancelled. So, after you add the Text widget, you need to add the Links widget as well (then click Save Changes).
