Adding “Image of the Day” image to blog
-
I’d like to add the image from one of two daily image sites to my class blog: APOD (astronomy photo of the day, http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/) or NASA’s image of the day (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/iotd.html)
I’ve been successful in adding their RSS feed, which provides text about the image, but can’t figure out how to display the image. There seems to be a lot of options if I click “share” on the NASA site for third-party providers.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Why not simply capture the image and place a thumbnail sized image with copyright credit link in an image widget or in a text widget in your sidebar?

They update their site each day with a new image. I would like, as you suggest, to post the thumbnail sized image with the widget you suggested. I just wanted to avoid having to do that everyday. I was hoping that there was a way to automatically capture the thumbnail image and automatically update it daily, similar to an RSS feed. Thanks for commenting

I think the image widget needs an appropriate file extension, and unfortunately each daily image doesn’t have a universal title like http://nasa.gov/pictureoftheday.jpg. If you click a link, the *.jpg is different each day.

I’m not aware of any way the image can be automatically updated. If it doesn’t appear in the RSS feed then I believe you will have to do this manually.
