Adding images from Google picture library under new editor

  • Unknown's avatar

One of the features I use most in the old editor was the ability to add images directly from my Google Library but I can’t find how to do this under the new editor – is it there? I hope I’m just missing something obvious

Otherwise it means having to download the images from Google and then upload them to wordpress which is time consuming

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

This option is not available in the block editor yet, but we’re already working on it. For now, you’ll need to switch back to the classic editor to insert images directly from Google Photos.

I am trying to switch back to the Classic Editor because the new editor is absolutely horrible. I clicked on your link above and followed the instructions, however, I do not have the option to switch to the classic editor like you say I should. Please fix this immediately or else I will cancel my account with WordPress.com and move my site to a different platform.

Why did you launch a new editor with less features than the old one? Are you trying to drive customers away?

  • @delawaredem, many users have asked for it. We offer both options on our servers.

If you’re having trouble, rather than commenting in other people’s threads, please reach out here so we can help you most efficiently. Thank you!

  • Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know this is now available in the block editor if you create a post from My Site ->Blog Posts ->Add.

It is still not available in the block editor in WP-Admin, as it is also not available there in the classic editor.
