Adding in-blog links to nav bar
-
I don’t know if that’s what you call them, but i essentially want to make it possibly for people to view posts from a certain category within my navigation bar at the top of my blog. I don’t want to give it its own sperate box when it would fit so perfectly up there… If anyone knows how to do this I’d love some help (also any advice in general on the blog is also welcome)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, just use a Custom Menu. Your link for various categories is of this form:
http://tonaldiscord.wordpress.com/category/whatever
That’s the link for your Whatever category. So you create a custom menu with that link in it and it goes to the dynamic category page for that category on your blog.

Create Categories in your dashboard
Assign Categories to Posts with the Categories Module
Note: There must be one published post in any Category in order for there to be anything to display.Create a custom menu > http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Adding Category Pages to Your Menu -
K, so I found this menu stuff, and when I set it all up and put Playlists as a menu item, Home and About dissappear, it says my theme only allows for one menu, but aren’t those other two things considered pages? is it one or the other? can I not have both?

This should clear up some confusion:

Yes those are static Pages and you can include those Pages in the same custom menu that you just created. See here please > http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages-to-your-menu
