adding javascript to wordpress

Well a lot of folk here in this forum do not want to futz with other folks fancy profiles on third party sites. They just like a link to a com blog. And OT: It fascinates me that high end tech gurus want WP com sites anyway. But that is just me.

“what century are you leaving in” I should ask you the same thing. Being a developer, you should call things by their proper name, even more if you’re in the web development field.
I don’t need to play smart, I just call things the way they should be. I am a programmer too. I develop in .Net (C#, VB), PHP; design and program MSSQL and MySQL databases. I program in ActionScript; write HTML, XML, CSS. I do graphic design work too. I too write desktop apps. I speak English, Spanish and a little Portuguese. So what? Do you think you’re the only one who can be efficient and can multi task? Do you think you were criticized by a volunteer who was just trying to be a smart ass? If so, you’ve got another thing coming.

There is a really funny mind set with – fortunately – a few noobies to com. One is that they think because it is a simple hosted service that somehow they need to compensate by parading their *credentials*. And two. For some reason a lot of these guys carry on as though no one else here has ever heard of Active X, JAVA, whatever.

Would it be possible to add support for shockwave flash as well? For instance, I was sent code for a video player from Blockbuster but can’t incorporate it into my website because its shockwave-flash.
Now, I’m not complaining. WordPress.com is a great blog community and I really haven’t had any problems. I do want to migrate over to a full domain (as I’ve purchased it and will be buying a paid host to go along with it soon). I just don’t want to lose anything when I move over to using WordPress.org (i experimented with the blank WordPress installation and it says the largest file I can import is 8MB, which is a problem since my export file is 12MB).
So, is there a way to add support for certain video players that run in flash or javascript, like what was done with support for Google, YouTube, Live video support?

I guess I am fortunate enough to not need a blog or anything to be already overbooked. So, the “guru” who does not have a blog…. if I may, I find this a little low.
But once again, you-are-right, and I work on it. Maybe if did not have to spend hours finding tricks to make stuff work around here or there, I would be done by now….

devblog: ok so you know what you are talking about, now can you say you never, ever, not even once said “java” to make it short while you think obviously script? I did not say J2EE, I said “java” so I maintain, you play smart by playing with words. Useless.

russtc3: I am not qualified on the wordpress architecture so i leave the mic to tje staff. All I can say is bare Flash is not great, you need some sort of code to support things as low level as browser detection… A good architecture would abstract that and for example WP would do the job on their sandbox without having to give you physical access to it, but based on how much of a big deal it is to get that little last.fm poor thing working I have little hope… Great topic for the blog I will open up to cast your voices reagrding anything you may want to see changing here at wp .com. Stay tuned…

I wanted the name to be a common decision but it would just make us abusing even more of the forum’s hospitality (seriously, I am surprised they did not cut me off already lol).

Never I’ve used java for javascript. Again, those are completely two different things. But sure, you think it’s useless, you think I’m playing smart because I’m calling things by their proper name? whatever you have to tell yourself.
If you wanna call things wrongly, not only you’ll confuse people but guess who’s gonna look bad? For sure it won’t be me.
Me, for one, you can think whatever you please, I just don’t care.
Like TT said, the forum is not for discussing this, so this will be my last reply to you. You want to complain, vent, whatever you want to express, write it in your blog.
You wanna have the last word and look like you’re right and I’m wrong, fine, it’s yours.

devblog: I understand your position, but sincerely the reason for my tone is not to make me look good and others bad, I have nothing to sell and what people think of me as a person in the context of a public forums slip through over my head. The only motive I had is to create a reaction which obviously by now is pretty much successfull. I don’t care how much of an as–le I may look, it is not about me. Now, do you thing we would be creating that new blog and working that little buz if I just poste a nice “please” and “thank you” post at fiurst? Look around, people did all over the place and their post will just die in place.
I know social psychology quiet well, you do not make masses or groups move without creating some sort of shock. We’ll chat more about it at

wow, i didn’t know i couldn’t use javascript before. That takes away alot of things i wanted to do so bye bye wordpress. Dumbest crap i’ve ever heard.
