Adding jpg banner to sidebar

  I’d like to add a small banner ad to the sidebar of our blog site, but can’t figure out how to turn the ad into a hyperlink AND set it up as a sidebar item. Does anybody have exprience with this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
