Adding left side-bar to ‘Wu Wei’ theme

Thanks hallluke for the codes!
I nearly fell off the chair when I saw the big dots! I agreed it was horrid. But I just reduced the size and it looks much better now!
I am pleased to let you know that I have finally made the blog public! Thank you so much for your help. No doubt I will more question as I go along.

One more thing I would recommend to add is a little bit of space between your new sidebar widgets, the code below will do it. Change the value for more or less space. You might also want to give your search widget a title and capitalise your subscription widget title so all the titles are formatted similarly. If you need more help in the future you know where to find me!

Thank you for your suggestion! It definitely looks better. Thank you!
Since the blog is new and most people don’t know what it is supposed to show- is it possible to set the ‘About’ page as the ‘Home’ page display for now, rather than the latest post?
And, I have been just publicising posts as I finish. Some of my better posts were written earlier on, and hence ‘buried’ at the bottom. Is changing the date of publishing the only way out to edit the order? Or is there a more ‘manual’ approach? Thanks!

You can set the home page in your settings but I wouldn’t recommend it, if a visitor wants to find information on your site the about page is easy to discover. Having a dynamic front page will also endear your site to search engines.
If you change the post date then your permalinks will break, they have the date built in to the structure so again I’d recommend not changing this. Perhaps the best approach is to add a new “site map” page which includes the archives shortcode to display a link to every single one of your posts. Or even adding a text widget to show off some of your favourite posts.

Thank you for your tips!
I did change a few posts’ dates before reading your last message but I won’t do it again. Hopefully it hasn’t caused any problem yet (Google did not even find me then).
You suggestions make a lot of sense. Thank you!
