Adding links in Firefox doesn't work
-
When I try to insert a link into an article using Google Chrome I have no problem what so ever.
When I try to enter a link into an article in Firefox, this is in the visual editor, I outline the text I want to insert a link into, I enter the relevant information (the url and the title, and usually open in new window) and click update. I’m just taken to a new blank post.
If I’m creating a page I get the message “Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page”.
I also don’t get the option of setting an internal link in Firefox, but in Chrome I have no problem whatsoever doing this.
As I operate two different blogs I tend to use on browser for one site and one for the other.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Incidentally I never had this problem until internal links system was introduced.
I use 3 different computers on a regular basis and have the problem on all of them.

Well that’s interesting because I am using Firefox 3.6.13 and I just tested making a link in the HTML editor earlier this morning and I had no problem. I abandoned using the Visual editor to make links when the new internal linking staem was introduced.
Which version of Firefox are you using? Have you tried logging out force clearing the browser cacahe and cookies and loggging in again? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Which editor are you using (Visual or HTML)?

This problem occurs when I’m using the Visual Editor. I’ve been copy and pasting HTML code in to do my links but it’s obviously more convenient if I can use the interface.

@comedyposters, this is what I do in the visual editor. Select the text I want to use as the anchor. Click the link button, put in the link and click “insert” and it works. This procedure works for me with Safari, Firefox or even Opera.
Is that what you are doing?
-
That’s what I’m doing.
I’ve just removed Firefox and re-installed it, not using any plug-ins at the moment and that seems to have fixed the programme. I’ll put my plug-ins back in and if that causes the same problem I’ll know it’s of them that’s doing it.
Need to do that on 2 other machines now.
Thanks for the help.

On your plugins, disable all of them after you reinstall them and restart firefox. Then, turn them on one at a time and try making a link. You should be able to figure out which one is causing the issues. If you happen to have “no-script” installed as a plugin, that might be the culprit. What you can do I think is to “whitelist” wordpress.COM and that should take care of the issue. Much of the editor is javascript.

This thread really helps me – I have the same problem in Firefox. Can you help a comparative un-techie by indicating where I can find the list of plugins I have installed, so that I can try @thesacredpath’s suggestion of disabling them?
Thanks,
John

Thanks, raincoaster.
I’ve found the answer to my own question (old philosopher and sage once said… “listen to your questions and answer them yourself, OK?”)
