Adding links to image captions, to satisfy use or licensing requirements
-
I am having trouble adding links to captions on images. This is important to me because sometimes, images require me to link back to an original website, or a license, in the caption. Currently, the lack of this capability is restricting my use of images, as it is often unwieldly and ugly to include the byline and links outside the image box itself.
I would like to request for you to add this feature. There is actually a wordpress.org plugin with this capability but I think it would be useful to all wordpress.com users. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply!
Yes, I have, and it does not work. The problem is that the caption seems to be an attribute, rather than raw HTML code…and somewhere it is stripping out the tags that I put in. In fact, sometimes it doesn’t even strip out the tags, it just totally truncates the caption wherever I added the link.
Try it in a test blog and you’ll see what I mean! Unless there’s an easy way around it by escaping the characters or something…I didn’t try that.

Sorry, yes, the captions do strip out HTML.
Unfortunately, the last thing that I can suggest in this case is to just add the link adjacent to the image in a page or post.

Thanks!
Surely, this wouldn’t be hard to fix in the long-run for wordpress.com users. There is already a wordpress.org plugin that addresses this. I for one would be very interested in such a feature and I imagine others would too.
