Adding links when in Visual Editor
-
I’ve noticed that when using visual editor and attempting to create a link by highlighting text and then clicking on the “link” icon, when the pop-up box (that you’re supposed to be able to paste the url into and then click to create the link) comes up, it’s blank. Nowhere to past the url so no ability to creae a link while in Visual Editor.
For me, I just switched over the the HTML/Code option and added the link manually, but thought I’d post the glitch here for the benefit of anyone who doesn’t know how to add the html manually. I’m sure that kind of glitch would be a big deal for them.

While that blank window is up, right click on it and select “reload frame” and it will come up for you. It is a caching issue. Do that with any window or frame that comes up blank.

Ok, thanks to you. You always have the answer!
Here’s another that got buried in a different thread. Actually it was your post about copying all your widget content before moving them so as not to lose content. I’d left a comment saying that when I try highlight to copy/paste the text from my text widgets, it won’t allow me to highlight anything. Will clicking in the widget box and using control-c work? If so, then what if I want to only copy a certain line and not all of it? Could that also be a cache issue?
If you don’t have the answer I’ll eat my bra… you always have an answer. ;-)

hi, fracas. He probably does have an answer (yo, tsp!!) but I’ve had that “no highlight” issue with text widgets on my self-hosted blog when using IE7. When I use Firefox it works the way I expect it to.

Okay, I am using IE7 but haven’t had that happen to me before now. Does that mean I can wear my bra instead of eating it? LOL.

Try putting the cursor into the text widget and then pressing ctrl+a (windows) or cmd+a (mac) and see if that works. That is the keyboard shortcut for select all.
I don’t have any problems selecting the text, so I think it is something that will work itself out shortly, I hope.

Also, with the text widget open, try right clicking and selecting “reload frame” and see if that will solve the issue.

LOL ellaella. Thanks for that tip thesacredpath. I will just hang tight. I know in the next day or so all kinds of kinks will disappear. I think people should chill a wee bit and not get so darn upset right out of the gate on this. I thought I’d post that in case there were some users who don’t know how to do the code manually and were frustrated.
I’ve got a manboob dare to post over at fracas so shan’t worry too much about all the kinks. Thanks to all of you who are here though, doing your best to dance as fast as the posts come in!
