Adding logo into the title on Twenty Ten
-
Hey guys
I have just registered a .com domain with wordpress and am in the process of creating a blog.
I want to remove the title ‘demitourwineblog’ and replace it with a logo (j-peg) file. I have paid to download the CSS upgrade but still cannot work out how to make this happen.
I have seen CSS editor on WordPress previously and was able to access the header.php and css stylesheet but I don’t seem to be able to access this in the same way now. There is just a blank CSS stylesheet editor (BTW i am a complete novice!)
Here is my site (in progress) http://www.demitourwineblog.com
and here is the logo URL http://demitourwineblog.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/demi-tour.jpg
I’m sure this is straightforward but I would greatly appreciate some help
Cheers

If by logo you mean the image in the header, you simply go to
Appearance / Themes / Header
and upload your image.
No need to mess with CSS for that. -
Hi edwin
Thanks for the reply.
I don’t want to change the header image I want to remove the title
and replace it with a predesigned logo (ie: above the header,
in the title bar).I believe you need CSS to perform this action.
Could anyone help?
Cheers

I was thinking that since your excellent logo already clearly presents the title of your blog, you’d omit the redundant text title above it. Why pay for CSS upgrade if you don’t need to?
-
Thanks for the reply. I want to put the logo where the title
currently is (above the header image) and insert a photograph
underneath at a later date. Also I have already paid for the CSS upgrade so might as well
have both the logo above and a picture below. Can anyone suggest some code which will remove the title text and
replace it with my logo. I have tried but my efforts seem to
appear behind the title and the header image.Glad you like the logo though.
Cheers

First off, do you want to axe the tagline at upper right? To use the image you have now (940 x 125) it will have to be killed. Actually it could be repositioned underneath the logo image if you wish.
-
Thanks for the reply.
I’m more than happy to lose the tagline in the upper right if that is easier as the priority for me is the logo above a header photo.
I want to have the logo above the header image but there doesn’t seem to be room. I assume this is possible.
I appreciate your help sacredpath.

OK, this puts the logo up there and keeps the tagline. I adjusted the font size for the original text title and then made it transparent so that it would overlay your image and make it clickable. I also adjusted margins and padding here and there so that things would look better.
#site-title { background: url("http://demitourwineblog.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/demi-tour.jpg") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; font-size: 100px; height: 125px; line-height: 90px; margin: 0 0 18px; width: 940px; } #site-title a { color: transparent; } #site-description { margin: 0; position:relative; top:-25px; } #header { padding: 20px 0 0; } -

Hello sacredpath
I have just loaded the webpage on a desktop PC at work and the original title
appears to be overlying the logo. Do I need to make the title
transparent. What do I need to change in the code to do so?
Thanks
James -
It does appear that transparency has been coded into CSS. However
for some reason ‘demitourwineblog’ is appearing in front of the
logo. This wasn’t the case on my macbook earlier but it is on the
PC at work. Also the tagline has been moved to the top right and
the whole page stretched with reduced borders. -
Shoot, I forgot some versions of Internet Explorer do not know what “transparent” means. Add display:none; as below. The title will not be clickable.
#site-title a { display:none; } -

I’m a beginner, please be patient if this is a ridiculous question after the great explanation above…(my wordpress.com: http://dunelanddeals.com/)
..so, basically, to delete the blog title & tagline (the solid black text at top of page repeating the name of my blog already in my custom header image) will require upgrading to CSS coding?
I’ve chosen the new Twenty Ten theme – is omitting the blog title an option in another theme & maybe I’ve made this difficult for myself?
Any help would be appreciated – thanks! :) -
@dune, yes, many themes that have the blog title/tagline text superimposed on the header image have settings at appearance > header where you can turn off the display of the text. If you look at the table in the following post by Panos, the last column on the right tells which themes you can hide the text in and which you cannot.

@thesacredpath
Can you help me as well? You are awesome.I have the new Duster theme and I’m trying to add an image below my custom menu. I thought I could do this with a sticky post including a featured image. But, I’m also having separate issues in which everything is pushing to the right of my site.
So nothing is looking like how it is supposed to.
Here is the link to the image I want below the custom header and under the custom menu bar. http://integralnatmed.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/keith-sub-header3.jpg
I also wanted to add a black outline (border) to the outside of the white portion of the mainwrapper. I can’t seem to find the location for this in the CSS.
Lastly, is it possible to remove the (email visible only to moderators and staff) Theme Duster box at the bottom right?
here is my site: http://www.intergralnatmed.com
Thank you

Since you do not have any content on that page, it is hard to tell if this will work properly or not, but I believe it will. Give it a try.
#main { background: url("http://integralnatmed.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/keith-sub-header3.jpg") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; padding: 160px 0 0; }
