Adding meta tags
-
Hi, not sure if this is something I can do or not in wordpress.com: Can I add a meta tag from BlogCatalog or other blog directories? I know in the Tools section I can add meta tags from Google, Yahoo and Bing–just wondering if and where additional meta tags can be placed, or if I’d need wordpress.org for such things.
I really appreciate the help and hopefully this question is clear . . . I couldn’t find this question elsewhere in the forums, but apologies if this a repeat.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

p.s. my blog is The Holidaze at http://theholidaze.wordpress.com in case that’s useful for someone in answering this question. Best, S

We cannot access the meat data for wordpress.com blogs and it makes no difference to us as Matt Cutts has explained that meta data has not been used by Google for a long time, is not used now, and and will not be used in the future. The reason given for this is that meta date is easily manipulated and many web masters used it for manipulative purposes.

Good to know! It’s surprising to me then that BlogCatalog prompts a blogger to verify their blog via meta tags as part of the sign-in process. I won’t waste a minute more worrying about this.
Thanks for the really quick response, timethief. You’re awesome!

You’re welcome and please let me clear yp something for you.You do not need to verify with Blog Catalog by using meta tags. There are two other approaches you can use to have your blog verified at Blog Catalog.
(1) You can simply use a text link by adding Blog Catalog to your blogroll/links.
(2) Or you can place the blogcatalog button in your sidebar found in the fourth spot down on this page http://www.blogcatalog.com/account/buttons
