Adding meta tags to proof site ownership

    Hi

Is there anyway to add meta tags to the header. I’m asking this as I want to use youtube’s annotations to link to my page. This requires proof of site ownership. If not with meta tags, any other idea how I could do this.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, there isn’t a way for users to add metatags to the header of your WordPressdotcom site.

However, I am thinking that as YouTube is a Google product, it may be possible to verify your WordPressdotcom site using the following method since you have a custom domain. Please see here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/verifying-your-domain-with-google/

Please let us know if you were successful.

Hi again, since you haven’t posted back, it’s not clear if you were able to resolve this with the information in the Support doc I linked to above.

But in the meantime it appears you’ve removed the credits from your WordPressdotcom site footer.

See this Support doc on Custom Design: https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

May I remove the Admin Bar, credit links such as ‘Blog at WordPress.com’, theme, font, or toolbar links?

All WordPress.com bloggers are required to maintain the Admin Bar (the dark bar that appears at the top of WordPress.com sites when logged in) as well as credit links in the footer, even our VIP bloggers. Please do not hide or alter text or links for the footer credits or the toolbar. Modifying the style of the footer text (i.e. colors and font size) is fine as long as it’s still readable. Using CSS, you can also add content like a copyright notice to the existing footer. If you would like to do that, you can ask in the CSS Customization forum and Staff or our community volunteers would be happy to help you do that.

Hi. Didn’t yet have the time to check the this. Regarding the footer, didn’t know that I’m not allowed to change this. Kind of strange that one pay’s premium price for a theme and then it is still co-branded.

As it says in the Support doc, all WPcom sites are required to maintain those credit links but can style them to make them more suitable for your theme. They just have to be readable. Even WPcom VIP sites, like Time.com, need to keep the credit links. (temporary screenshot)

Hope the YouTube site verification works out.
