Adding Multiple Audio to a Blog Post
-
I checked the Support Forums and read the instructions but I am still not having any luck getting songs to play within my post. I tried installing the “short code” for the player button to show but no luck. I am not sure how to install the cloud player and don’t want to mess around to much for fear of screwing things up bad.
Can anyone walk me through this step by step so that I can add the referenced songs to my new post.
Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

G’evening :)
I don’t know much about audio. If my replies are not helpful, then I humbly apologize, in advance.I do know if you are going to upload tunes from your own computer you have to purchase the audio upgrade. If that’s the case in your case, then did you do that?
I also know that usually when bloggers post stating the shortcode does not work it’s because they are trying to post it into the Visual Editor instead of the HTML editor.
(don’t throw any rotten eggs, okay?)

LOL no eggs…my chickens are on vacation in the Bahama’s! Lucky Chickens!
No…I did read that you needed to upgrade if your uploading from your computer but I am not doing that. I want to like to “Ilikeit” (?) and yes I did put it in the HTML not VE but still nothing….
I was thinking SoundCloud but dont’ know if it is supported by Twenty Ten?? any guesses??

The Soundcloud widget works, but I don’t know if the player works in a post: why not try it?
Do you already have sound files uploaded? If so, please give me the URL you’re putting in the audio player so I can check it.

@tfockler60: Standard widgets are common to all themes. Like the WP audio player, SoundCloud is used with a shortcode – see here:

OK I apologize yet again for being a “widget idiot” so let me try rephrasing this.
First, I looked in my Dashboard under Appearance in the Widget section for SC and could not find it. I understand that it must use a “short code” but my question was, is this a “widget” like all the others found there….”tagcloud”, “catagorycloud” etc or is this a stand alone “widget”?
Second, I re-read the information in Support on the SC audio player and do not understand if I the following assumptions are correct.
1. after I dl SC, I can insert the “short code” at random places in my blog (sorry not a HTML guru here) and that will allow individual songs to be played in various places?
2. in order for SC to work I can’t link directly to the song but must first dl it to a site such as fileden?
What I am after is a set up that will look like this:
TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT
Song Title: PLAYER BUTTON TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT
TEXT TEXT TEXT.Is this making sense??

ok here is what I am getting with soundcloud.
I dl SC found the track I want and clicked on Share. The code I was given is this:
[soundcloud url="http%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fcrawsome-girl%2F09-elton-john-crocodile-rock-die-ultimative-rock-box-cd1%3Futm_source%3Dsoundcloud%26utm_campaign%3Dshare%26utm_medium%3Dwordpress%26utm_content%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fcrawsome-girl%2F09-elton-john-crocodile-rock-die-ultimative-rock-box-cd1"]
I then pasted that code into my post in HTML where I wanted to player to show up and all it shows is the “code” itself…no player.
So I went back to SC and clicked on the “customize your player”. The code I then got ( copy to WP ) was this: [soundcloud url="http://soundcloud.com/fatbtmdgrl/0512-elton-john-crocodile-rock" params="show_comments=true&auto_play=false" width="100%" height="81" ]
Again all it shows is the “coding” itself…not the player.
So…on my third try I clicked on the coding listed just above the “copy to WP” and got this:
<object height=”81″ width=”100%”> <param name=”movie” value=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fcrawsome-girl%2F09-elton-john-crocodile-rock-die-ultimative-rock-box-cd1&show_comments=true&auto_play=false&color=ff7700″></param> <param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param> <embed allowscriptaccess=”always” height=”81″ src=”http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fcrawsome-girl%2F09-elton-john-crocodile-rock-die-ultimative-rock-box-cd1&show_comments=true&auto_play=false&color=ff7700″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”100%”></embed> </object> <span>09 Elton John – Crocodile Rock (Die Ultimative Rock Box [CD1]) by Crawsome Girl</span>
Now this one shows a bar with an “f” in the middle along with the song title and person who uploaded it to SC under it, but you still can not click to hear the song.
It looks like this:
BAR IS HERE
0512. Elton John – Crocodile Rock by fatbtmdgrl <both the name and fatbtmdgrl are in Blue. What am I missing???
Oh and I also tried putting [audio] at the begining of all three with no change.

Are you pasting the code in using the Visual Editor (with the buttons with images instead of just type?). In some themes you have to paste it in the HTML editor, so just click the HTML tab instead and paste it in there.
Use the first set of code: do NOT bother with customization until you know how to get it working in the first place.
-
If you pasted it in the HTML editor and it didn’t work, try pasting it in the video editor.
Follow the instructions EXACTLY as they are given in the link. You go to soundcloud, you get the share code, you click on the WordPress icon to get the correct code, and you use that. Do not add “audio:” in front.

Tried it in Visual…nothing. I am pretty sure it has to go into HTML anyway, but Thanks for trying, hopefully someone will see this and have a solution.
-
Why don’t you give us the direct link to the one you want to put in your blog and we can see what’s going on with it.
-
The “share” code that Soundcloud produces is wrong (the proper symbols are converted into the html for them); it should be like that:
[soundcloud url="http://soundcloud.com/crawsome-girl/09-elton-john-crocodile-rock-die-ultimative-rock-box-cd1?utm_source=soundcloud&utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=wordpress&utm_content=http://soundcloud.com/crawsome-girl/09-elton-john-crocodile-rock-die-ultimative-rock-box-cd1"] -
:light bulb coming on: :)
@pana…so wait…do I have this right? the code that SoundCloud gives exchanged the / for a % mark thus rendering it usless?
:running to check this out:
Back…grrrrrrr…..Ok pana…no go. I even tried copying and pasting the code you provided but nothing…
Am I just lusting after something that just isn’t going to work? :(
