Adding Multiple Photos to One Post

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am having trouble adding three photos into one post. I can upload and then insert them, but when I preview or publish all but the first one disappear. When I press upload/insert photo again to try to replace them so I can publish again, they are in my gallery, and I can add them into the post and see them in the text editor, but all except the first one disappear when I preview or publish. Any ideas?? Your help is much appreciated!!

    Is this resolved or can you give us a direct link to a post where you are having this problem?

    I am having the exact same problem.

    I am at: http://localflavorproductions.com

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hello,
    Yes, this is still an issue, I also can’t put galleries or slideshows or embed youtube vids (in fact when I publish, wordpress even removes the link?!?). I found a way around the photos, but it is really round about, I insert all the photos, select all,copy and paste again, this seems to work, but I still have to do it one at a time… ie. insert one photo, copy,paste, publish/update then go back to edit post and do the same for all photos I want to insert. However when you paste, you have to go through and reformat all the photos, left/right align and borders. It is so time consuming!!!
    I end up forgetting abuot youtube and posting a dailymotion link… The post I had tried to insert a youtube vid into is http://findingpassionforlife.wordpress.com/2011/05/06/uncharted/
    In this post, I tried to insert a third pic, and even with my roundabout method, I couldn’t get it to publish.
    Any help would be amazing, and it is wasting so much time and I am really frustrated!!
    Thanks!
    -S.

    Two questions:

    Which browser are you using? Please try troubleshooting according to this Support Doc:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

    Are you inserting the images and media according to these instructions?
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/image-links/

    Hi JustJennifer,
    I primarily use IE, but have tried with FireFox and still have the same problem. Yes, I followed the instructions to a tee, and have also searched through the “image” forum to troubleshoot with no success. I also tried several themes, again no luck. It is not a problem with my internet being slow either, the images just dissapear!
    Is it significant that both my video embedding and photo uploading capabilities are limited?? Have you heard about a glitch like this before??
    Thanks!!
    -S.

    Apparently there is a problem. If you click on the “image” tag in the sidebar above, you’ll see a number of people who posted with a similar problem in the past week.

    At this point, I suggest contacting Support directly http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    Arrggh! Support is currently unavailable. Well I guess I just have to wait! Thanks for the advice.
    Best,

    Sorry, the link was live when I posted it two hours ago. :( Hopefully it won’t be too long a wait.

  • I’m unable to duplicate the problem myself, and I don’t see enough reports to place this as a wide-spread issue yet.

    You mentioned trying in IE and Firefox, would you mind trying in Google Chrome too? http://www.google.com/chrome

    If it doesn’t work in Chrome, please try opening an Incognito window from Chrome’s File menu. This will run the browser without cookies, cache, or add-ons, providing the “cleanest” browsing experience possible.

    Hello,
    It all worked in Chrome! Yay! Any ideas why it wouldn’t work in IE or firefox??
    Thanks!!!
    -S.

  • It’s possible that it’s related to an add-on. Let’s work with Firefox first, since IE always makes things difficult.

    Please make sure that you’re running the latest version of Firefox (4.0.1) then disable all add-ons and try again.

    (I am a techie friend responding on behalf of LocalFlavorProductions)

    This is definitely NOT a browser issue. The WordPress software is not properly publishing the HTML as it is saved in the blog editor. When I enter this text in the WordPress blog editor:

    XXX
    <img src=”http://localflavorproductions.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/bus19guys.jpg” alt=”” title=”Bus 19 guys” width=”315″ height=”472″ class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-37″ />
    YYY
    <img src=”http://localflavorproductions.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/austinbus19-1.jpg” alt=”” title=”Bus 19 Austin” width=”315″ height=”210″ class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-36″ />
    ZZZ

    This is the HTML that is published (obtained by navigating to the URL and viewing the source):

    (…yada yada…)
    <div class=”nav prev”></div>
    <img src=”http://localflavorproductions.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/bus19guys.jpg?w=560″ alt=”” title=”Bus 19 guys” class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-37″ /> <div class=”nav next”></div>
    </div>
    (…yada yada…)
    <div id=”post”>
    <div class=”sleeve”>
    <p>XXX</p>
    <p>YYY</p>
    <p>ZZZ</p>
    </div>
    </div>
    (…yada yada…)

    Notice that the two image tags were REMOVED from the middle of the text and only the first image tag was published above all the text. This is obviously some sort of reformatting on the part of the WordPress software – whether it is intentional reformatting or a bug is unclear. There are a couple likely scenarios: WordPress is intentionally stripping out all but one of the image tags either for aesthetic reasons or to conserve resources (bandwidth?). Or perhaps there is a configuration or design setting somewhere in the WordPress software and activates/deactivates this ‘feature’.

  • Conspiracies aside, I’d say it sounds more like a bug.

    Now the real question is why I can’t actually reproduce it, which is why I was wondering if there was a browser-specific issue. As mentioned above, it works perfectly in Chrome, so it can’t be 100% WordPress’s fault.

    If it works in Chrome, and in a good copy of Firefox 4.0.1 with no add-ons, we’ll know that the issue is related to an interaction with IE while posting. If we can isolate that, we’ll be able to fix it.

    Would you mind testing in a copy of Firefox 4.0.1 with no add-ons?

  • Unknown's avatar

    I tested it in the Firefox4.0.1 with no add-ons. No luck. It is still deleting all but the first photo.

    Hey folks, We figured out the problem here at LocalFlavorProductions and hope it’s the same or similar cause for you GettingThereMyWay, et al. We were using the Monotone theme and it was reformatting the blog for design reasons. Could still be some conspiracy though…. ;) Once we switched our theme the problem-o went away. :) Cheers! Thanks for the assistance, MacManx.

  • Ah, that makes perfect sense for Monotone.

    Monotone is a photo blogging theme, and as such is designed to only showcase one image per post.
