Adding Music to a Post

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am working on a blog post where I would like to include a way for the readers to actually listen to the songs I am discussing. I have read everything in the Support Forums and tried the following:

    1. embedding the “short code” as suggested. RESULT…nothing
    2. locating SoundCloud and installing as suggest. RESULT…I don’t think Twenty Ten supports this.

    Can someone PLEASE help me here.

    What I would like to have happen with this is the following:

    A button located next to or below each song that the reader can click to actually hear the song.

    EXAMPLE: Rascall Flatts has had many hits and amoung my favorites are
    “I wish” <Song Title “PLAYER BUTTON” . <click here to listen

    Is this even possible??

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    One way to do it: If you have the paid Space upgrade, you upload an mp3 to your media library. If you don’t, you sign up with Fileden and upload it there. In both cases, you copy the complete URL you’ll get and write this in the html post or page editor:

    [audio URL HERE]

    Another way to do it: sign up with Mixpod, search for the songs there, create playlists, post them to your blog.

    @pana: I read your other reply and I am sorry if I offened you by posting twice. I did so because after posting the first time I could not locate the original post anywhere in the forum. Glitch? don’t know.

    Now as I stated I tried the using the mp3 method with no results as the play button does not show up. So I thought I might be able to try “method 3′ listed in support that reads;

    3.Create a download link to a file hosted elsewhere, which will require your readers to play it on their own computers. If you are uploading or linking to a file hosted elsewhere, please respect all copyright.

    I really would like to use the SoundCloud widget but as I told Rain on the other posting (which was visible this morning for some reason) I can’t find it within the “widgets” listed for the TwentyTen theme.
    I am just not sure how to do this

    To find a thread you have posted in, click on your name at the top of the forums:
    “Welcome, tfockler60!”

    Or click on the word “member” under the name of any poster here.

    @tfockler60:

    1) You’re not offending me, you’re making volunteers run in circles unnecessarily.

    2) The forum front displays the latest threads only. To find previous threads you’ve started or posted in, you click your username at the top of the page (where it says Welcome, tfockler60).

    3) In my post above I’m showing how the WP audio player is inserted into a post. What exactly did you try and “the play button does not show up”?

    4) Re Soundcloud, see the other thread. (See why you should avoid multiple posting?)

    @pana and 1tess. I apologize if I am causing anyone to run in circles that was not the intent, however as I am sure many newer member here will agree that some parts of this site are very vague or don’t supply information (such as finding posts quickly) in a easy to locate fashion. For those of us who may not be as well versed as some in all the working of this site this can and often does add frustration when asking for help. I have noticed a trend amoung some of the “older volunteer users” to provide information in a manner that just assumes EVERYONE knows as much as they do, and that is not the usually the case if they are asking questions. I can’t tell you how many times I have asked something only to get a reply that is as confusing as the information in the support area. I do understand how hard it can be on the volunteer’s to answer questions at times having worked in that area on a major site for many years but I would like to suggest that perhaps confusion could be avoided if those answering would just step back a moment and reply with information under the assumption that the person asking the question may need DETAILED explainations to solve their problem. Yes, that may be a bit more work on then volunteer’s part but in the end the need to ask multiple questions, multiple times will be far less.

    Now that this posting has been polluted with un-needed comment, I am going to tag it as “resolved” as well as the other posting and re-open the original question so anyone looking for help with this won’t get lost in the discussion. If either of you have a way of having this and the other post removed feel free to do so.

    Thanks

    Please do NOT respond to a request not to start new threads with…a new thread.

    For god’s sake, just pick one and post to it.

    Excuse us! I do not think either Panos or I was rude.

    @ 1tess:

    Posting this ≥^!^≤ with NO COMMENT of any kind relating to the question asked is rude. Sorry but if you were not going to add any information you had no reason to post ESPECIALLY since this is located in the “QUESTIONS” section where those looking for HELP are directed to go. Furthermore…I didn’t say either of you were rude until right now. I simply explained why I (and other) may be frustrated with the replies for help recieved and offered a suggestion as to how to maybe better help those looking for help. If that is to much for you, feel free not to reply to any question I might ask in the future.
