Adding my own domain to WordPress blog

My WordPress blog’s current URL is https://hidevelopmentinfo.wordpress.com and my company’s official website URL is https://www.hidevelopment.com. I want to create a subdomain of http://blog.hidevelopment.com for our company news articles. To do this I will add my company’s own domain to our WordPress blog, but I do not want to lose any backlinks. If I add our domain and purchase the site redirect plan, links such as https://hidevelopmentinfo.wordpress.com/blog-post-1 will now direct to https://blog.hidevelopment.com/blog-post-1. Is this correct?

That’s right — if you make the subdomain primary, any links to the old wordpress.com address will be automatically redirected.
