Adding next/prior links to blog or other template changes

    I started researching what I thought would be an easy-peasy question but it has dropped me down a deep rabbit hole…

    I have the Premium plan and simple Beginner Template (Independent Publisher 2) and I’d like to have every blog post have next/prior links. Seems obvious, but there is no way to do it via the Customizer (that I can find).

    So I asked the Googles and there are MANY how-tos for adding the requisite PHP links. I ain’t afeard of PHP or HTML, but I just cannot find out how to get at the code of my template to add it!

    Some tutorials say, “Go to the Appearance tab of the Dashboard…” but my dashboard doesn’t show such a tab. Was that an older version of WP?

    How do I get into the code of my template or in any other way, add those links?
