Adding Padding to Blocks
-
I need to add padding to my Paragraph blocks inside of Column blocks.
The “Group Block” support page (https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/group-block) says to group blocks together, then add padding under the “Dimensions” section, however I don’t have a “Dimensions” section in my editor. I only see “Color” and “Advanced.”
Why am I not seeing this setting? How can I add padding to my blocks?
I am on the Personal plan, is the Dimensions setting on a different plan? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Happy to help you with this.
As far as I know, this feature should be present – are you able to tell me which page you’re working on so that I can take a close look and retrace some steps please?
Many thanks.

however I don’t have a “Dimensions” section in my editor. I only see “Color” and “Advanced.
I’ve had the same results on the Group block on a test site yesterday and today. I find no “Dimensions” section in settings, just “Color” and “Advanced.” The “Padding” value tool is supposed to be under “Dimensions.”

Hi @musicdoc1,
Can you please share a link to the page you’re working on so I can have a look? Thanks!

Sure, here’s the post editor: https://sbstage1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=335&action=edit. I haven’t yet added any blocks to the group block. Is that the problem?

So, I found out that the Dimensions section only appears on themes that support it. Those themes are newer themes that are designed to work with the Block editor. Basically, any theme released in the last few years will support it.
Switching to a newer theme will allow you to adjust the padding.

Thanks! So I presume that the Padding Settings section of the Group Block support page will be updated to reflect that limitation.

Thanks for looking into this, but that’s such a shame!
I’m using a the Premium theme “Adventure” and don’t have any plans on changing.
I was trying to replicate my usual layout created with Classic Editor (http://faunafocus.com/aardwolf) in the Blocks Editor (http://faunafocus.com/test-aardwolf), but without padding, that’s not going to be possible.

The classic editor is still available. See How to Access the Classic Editor.

Yes, thankfully.
I’ve been using the Classic Editor since 2006 so I’ve been reluctant to switch, but every few months or so minor site/theme updates cause a lot of my formatting to shift. (Example: https://faunafocus.com/home/przewalskis-horse/) I have to manually update all of my pages each time this happens and I figured updating to the Blocks Editor may help future-proof my design.
