Adding pages or posts???
-
I have started a blog to document my restoration of a classic car. The first entry went ok, but I have no idea how to get it out there for people to visit, apart from giving the specific web address to my friends who each viewed it and ok’d it. I then added a further 2 pages which it would appear only I can see. Any search on the blog only brings up the first entry, there is no way of accessing further pages. I cannot find the blog on google. The blog is (email visible only to moderators and staff) Any ideas ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When I look at your blog, I can see three pages – the Home page with one post, and a generic About and Contact page. I would hazard a guess that the two additional entries you created are either marked Private so only you can see them, or are still Drafts that haven’t been Published yet.
As for how to get your blog noticed – that’s a huge question that people can spend a ton of time on!
First and foremost, since you’ve already got your friends on-board, ask them to help you out a little – don’t just give them the address for them to okay it, but for them to spread the word and share it onto some of their friends and so on.
Secondly, make sure you’re an active part of the internet community. You’re already off to a great start by posting here! I got my very first new reader by asking a question in this same forum and piquing the interest of somebody who came to answer it. Take a look around and see if anyone has a question that YOU know the answer to, and help out! That will make people more likely to get curious about you and check out your blog to see more, giving you the opportunity to hook them in with great content! If you’re active in any other communities, don’t be afraid to shamelessly self-promote there, too! For instance, if you participate in any classic car forums, feel free to put a link to your blog in your signature over there.
Networking is your friend! The main thing is to just keep telling people, in person and on the internet, that you have a blog – if they don’t know you’re out there, they won’t go looking for you. It’ll feel weird and kind of braggy at first, but you’ll find easier, more natural ways to slip it into the conversation. Then make sure that the site you’ve created is something that you’re proud of, and that people will want to keep coming back to see and will share with other people, and so on.

Thanks for the advice. I went back into my account and checked, the pages are all set to public view. Am I supposed to add new pages or new blogs when I want to publish another installment? I am borderline technophile so need to understand the way this internet thing all works. Could you view all 3 pages? they should be ‘my first blog’ ‘engine strip’ and ‘engine continued’?

A blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one-way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

re: search engine discoverability
It can take weeks for search engines to index your site content. Please read this support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/ so you know we have no control over search engines positioning or appearance in the SERPs (search engine page results).
To verify blog ownership of a WordPress.com hosted blog with the major search engines you must use this process > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/
Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.WordPress.com automatically supplies sitemaps for our blogs to search engines – we do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/#xml-sitemaps-for-search-engines
To gain search engine attention, I recommend that you start publishing posts (not pages) https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ frequently. That’s because it can take weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL.

Hmm… Nope. All I see on your home page is “My First Blog” but not the other two.
Part of the confusion may be in the distinction between Pages and Posts. (More here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/)
Pages are the solid, unchanging parts of your website that you create once, usually when you’re just starting out, and put somewhere that’s easy for new readers to find – usually, most themes will have a bar across the top with links to your Pages.
Posts are the actual “blog” part of your blog, where you write your articles and musings and continuously update your website as you go along. They’ll usually appear in reverse-chronological order on your homepage. (Some people prefer to have a static homepage that doesn’t change, like the other Pages, and then put their Posts somewhere else on their site, but that’s a little more advanced, and you don’t have to worry about that now if you don’t want to.)
For instance, if I had a website about a restaurant, I might make one Page describing my restaurant for potential new customers, another Page with a map and directions to my restaurant, and then another Page with my usual menu on it – they would all be things that are unlikely to change regularly. Then I would use Posts to regularly update my site to show the current specials for a given day, new seasonal options, special events taking place at the restaurant, etc – things that change over time and need to be updated. Pages stay the same, but Posts are always being added.
It sounds like what you want are going to be Posts, so when you’re editing your website, make sure you’re clicking on Blog Posts instead of Pages. If you do already see the “Engine Strip” and “Engine Continued” posts that you want in the Blog Posts section, make sure that they’re published as well – they may still be marked as Drafts, in which case you would want to open them and click the “Publish” button to let the rest of the world see them.

Hi, thanks for the advice. I shall wade through the links at my leisure. In the mean time, is there a way of converting a page into a new blog? I tried to copy/paste the page into a blog, didn't seem to want to let me do that!!
